Aluminum metal frames

We have several framing options that do not feature a glass cover.  Aluminum metal frames are described below and solid hardwood frames are also available. You can also order a flat mount print and purchase a frame elsewhere.

Floating frame

For this the print is first dry-mounted to black foam board as with our other mounting options, then it is suspended on the front opening of a high quality aluminum frame. From the figure you can see that the edge of the print is separated by a small distance from the frame, hence the term "floating frame".  If you look closely, you can see the edge of the foam board in the space (about 1/8 inch wide) but when you stand back in normal lighting the gap just looks black.

Standard frame

Here the print is mounted behind the front edge of the moulding. This is available at the same price, but we think you will like the floating mount better. Enter your desires in the special instructions box on the options page.

Color and size

The aluminum moulding we use is Nielsen Bainbridge 117. There are over 50 colors available (follow the link to see them). We presently stock only 117-20 Anodic Black (glossy black) and 117-21 (matte black) but we can obtain others in a week. The mouldings are 1-5/16 inch deep and 7/16 inch wide.

Specify custom size in inches for instant Framed print price:   Width & Length:  X  >>    Orientation The width is shown in the table as the smaller dimension, so the width is the horizontal dimension for portrait orientation and the vertical dimension for landscape orientation. Make sure your image fits on the print To obtain the largest print for the lowest price, be sure to select “crop to chosen size” on the options page or, if you don't want any cropping, follow these steps to compute the dimensions: Choose the small dimension. Compute the large dimension: Multiply small dimension by the ratio of the pixel dimensions of the digital image (1.5 for uncropped SLR for example).  ?  Add custom size to table After you enter dimensions and click on “>>”, the price will be displayed and can be added to the table for comparison with other sizes. When you are happy with an entry in the table, select that one by clicking on the “Choose options” button. Decimal inches You can enter sizes as fractions of an inch. For example, for 12 and a half inches, enter 12.5. (For 1/8 use .125, for 1/4 use .25, for 3/8 use .375, for 1/2 use .5, for 5/8 use .625, for 3/4 use .75, for 7/8 use .875).  ?  To order a custom size, first add to table then choose options.
