We have several framing options that do not feature a glass cover.  Aluminum metal frames are described below and solid hardwood frames are also available. You can also order a flat mount print and purchase a frame elsewhere.

Floating frame

For this the print is first dry-mounted to black MighyCore board as with our other mounting options, then it is suspended on the front opening of a high quality aluminum frame. From the figure you can see that the edge of the print is separated by a small distance from the frame, hence the term "floating frame".  If you look closely, you can see the edge of the board in the space (about 1/8 inch wide) but when you stand back in normal lighting the gap just looks black.

New: We can now mount any of our print media as a gallery wrap and insert that into a metal or wood frame. In this case the gap around the edge is larger and the print covers the edge of the board. The example below is printed on Optica One fine art paper with gloss coating.

Standard frame

Here the print is mounted behind the front edge of the moulding. This is available at the same price, but we think you will like the floating mount better. Enter your desires in the special instructions box on the options page.

Color and size

The aluminum moulding we use is Nielsen Bainbridge 117. There are over 50 colors available (follow the link to see them). We presently stock only 117-20 Anodic Black (glossy black) and 117-21 (matte black) but we can obtain others in less than a week. The mouldings are 1-5/16 inch deep and 7/16 inch wide.

Customer feedback

"The prints arrived today with no problem, they look great. I had the customer come by this evening and showed him both prints. [We shipped him a print on Optica One paper with floating mount and an other on Satin cloth with the metal frame shown here.] I noted the color difference in the whites of the satin cloth but he liked the metal frame so much he choose that one instead. I also like the look of the metal frame. I am sure this will be an excellent option on future orders. Thanks. "... Aaron Roth

Matte black metal frame

This panorama is set into the front of a matte black metal frame. There is a small gap between the print and frame. The print is on Satin cloth. The matte black frame is our favorite. The prints in these frames can be up to 46 inches wide.

“These are fantastic!!!!! I love them...I really love it!!!!! How many exclamation points was that? Those are seriously great products... Those could be a great alternative to the customer that is looking for something different and could become the standard for my corp. customers. I can't wait! Congratulations on a great new product! I think I counted 12 exclamation points! (oops..make that 13) ” ...Jonathan Marks www.jonmarkstudio.com

Forged rustic bronze metal frame

A black and white print looks good in a frame with some color. Although we stock only matte black frame stock, we can get any of the Nielsen profile 117 mouldings in a few days. This frame is Nielsen 117-607 Forged rustic bronze.

This print is 16x20 inches.
