Making a fine print

A quality print requires a collaboration between the photographer or artist and a professional printmaker. The photographer has a vision for the print and the artist wants the reproduction to look better than the painting. Details about these visions need to be conveyed to the printmaker, who must listen carefully and also have good judgment.

The printmaker needs to use color management so he can adjust the image in a monitor, then make a great print on the first try. This requires skill and experience because the monitor has a wider dynamic range compared to the print and so non-uniform tonal adjustments are often needed. At RediPix.com we have the skill and experience to make prints you will like. We give your prints all of our personal attention.

Archival materials

Prints from some dye-based printers, poster printers, and many photo papers will begin to fade in under a year, especially if exposed to sunlight. At RediPix.com we use only acid-free archival materials. Our HP Vivera inks are pigment based. Our fine art paper is 100% cotton and does not contain optical brighteners. Our canvas is a cotton-polyester blend especially developed for giclée prints. Our ArtCare foam board is made from acid-free paper and an inert core. Our prints are predicted to last over 75 years without glass cover, and we offer a lifetime guarantee against fading.

Innovative mounting methods

The traditional frame/mat/glass mounting method is used to protect the print from UV light, airborne contaminants, and physical damage. With the development of digital giclée printers that spray pigment inks on archival papers and canvas, we no longer need the protection of glass cover. A protective coating stops the damaging UV light and allows easy cleaning. RediPix.com has grasped this opportunity to develop several new mounting methods. Without glass cover, your prints will show beautifully without reflections that are usually present from glass in standard home and office lighting. The Box mount, Gallery wrap, and Wood frame options have an elegant modern look that you will enjoy hanging in your living room.
